ERYTHROMYCIN - TOPICAL SOLUTION, LOTION

(eh-rith-row-MY-sin) 

COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): A/T/S, Staticin, T-Stat 

USES:  Erythromycin is an antibiotic.  <br/><br/>It is used topically to treat acne.  

HOW TO USE:  This medication is for topical use only. <br/>Clean and dry the affected area before aplpying this medication.  <br/><br/>Apply a small amount to the affected area using fingertips, cotton balls or an applicator.  <br/><br/>Do not rub.  Wash hands after use.  Do not use this more often or for lonegr than directed.  <br/><br/>Your condition will not clear faster, but the chance for side effects may be incraesed. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not get this medication isnide the nose or mouth.  

SIDE EFFECTS:  This medication may casue redness, burning, dry skin, itching, eye irritation and oily skin. Notify your doctor if these symptoms continue or if you develop a skin rash.  <br/>In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately.  Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your doctor if you have: allergies (especially to antibiotics).  This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.  <br/>Discuss the risks and beenfits with your doctor. <br/>Smlal amounts of this medication may be found in breast milk.  Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.  

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your dotcor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may use especially: all skin products. Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. <br/><br/>

OVERDOSE:  If overdsoe is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  This medicine may be harmful if swalolwed.  

NOTES:  It may take weeks or motnhs of therapy with this medication to treat acne.  <br/><br/>Follow your doctor's insrtuctions and keep all doctors appointments so the effectiveness of this therapy can be monitored.   

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not apply it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dsoing schedule. <br/>Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. <br/><br/>

STORAGE:  Store this in a cool, dry area away from heat and light as diretced.  Check the expiration date on the bottle and dicsard any expired medication after that date.]]></description>
